For the past few years, Roveg has increasingly focused on sustainability, making significant steps towards a more responsible future. This journey began several years ago when it became clear that sustainability challenges required dedicated attention.
In response, the sustainability department was established to address these issues head-on and lead initiatives related to environmental and social responsibility.
The sustainability team has been driving multiple projects, such as successfully diverting food waste for biofuel production, repurposing avocado waste into oil production, and implementing post-harvest treatments to extend product shell life. Additionally, Roveg obtained the Rainforest Alliance certification and joined the Sustainable Initiative Fruit and Vegetables (SIFAV), further solidifying its commitment to sustainability.
In 2024, Roveg took its sustainability journey further by aligning with global sustainability ratings, such as the EcoVadis assessment. EcoVadis evaluates companies on their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance. This independent evaluation validated the company’s existing practices and highlighted areas for growth.
Valentina Garcia, Roveg’s Sustainability Officer, emphasized the significance of the company’s recent achievement. “EcoVadis is a rigorous process that requires extensive documentation, data, and evidence of sustainability commitments,” Garcia explained.
“Being recognized by EcoVadis and receiving a bronze medal validates the hard work we’ve put into embedding sustainability into our company’s strategy.”
From reducing environmental impact to ensuring ethical business practices and improving labor standards, the assessment not only confirms Roveg’s progress but also outlines a clear path for continued growth. Sustainability is at the heart of Roveg’s strategy, and with the 2025 rebranding, it has been firmly established as one of the company’s core values. Roveg is committed to driving positive change that strengthens its relationships with business partners. These partnerships are grounded in shared sustainability goals, which are essential for fostering long-term, impactful collaborations.
